TOP TEN REASONS TO SUPPORT NO MORE HOMELESS PETS
Reason #1 No More Homeless Pets (NMHP) is a collaborative effort involving dozens of community organizations and animal groups with a goal of ending pet overpopulation by 2005.
Reason #2 NMHP will drastically reduce animal cruelty by ending pet overpopulation and by educating our youth on why it is important to treat animals with respect.
Reason #3 NMHP hosts Super Adoptathons where many animal groups can showcase their adoptable pets to large groups of pet lovers.
Reason #4 NMHP publishes Best Friends Companion magazine, a community resource for adoptable pets, special pet features, volunteer opportunities with local animal groups, humane education articles and NMHP updates.
Reason #5 NMHP puts on puppet shows for children at Guilford County Schools, the Children's Museum, area YMCAs and other places that educate kids in a fun way about how pets react to being mistreated and how they love to be treated!
Reason #6 NMHP is promoting humane education programs and essay contests in schools to reinforce the puppet show messages and teach children basic animal interaction skills, like how to approach a strange dog.
Reason #7 NMHP is working in Guilford county low income neighborhoods in a special community program to get all animals spayed and neutered. NMHP's "The Big Fix" transportation van helps these neighborhoods transport pets to a spay/neuter facility.
Reason #8 NMHP has launched a new program for low income pet owners to spay or neuter their pets for only a $10 co-pay!
Reason #9 NMHP has partnerships with national programs like the Solution To end the Overpopulation of Pets (STOP) in New Hampshire, PETS911, PETsMART, R.E.S.C.U.E. of Phoenix, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and SPAY USA. We share "best practices" from our national partners with our local affiliates and provide opportunities for national experts to do local workshops.
Reason #10 NMHP works! Using proven methods from the finest groups around the country, plus our local community affiliations assisted by Leadership Greensboro, we will succeed if we work together towards the common goal!
