Ebony has a reduced adoption fee, adopt her for only $70
Ebony is a black lab mix. She's dominant with other dogs, but is very shy with people and needs a special home. She's tall but slim in size. And look at those beautiful brown eyes. Ebony was born around 5/4/2001. She is not good with cats.

Hailey

Hailey was adopted from HHAF
5 years ago to Gena Norwood. Hailey has been enjoying her wonderful new life with Gena. She spends her time visiting nursing homes twice monthly for Therapy Dog visits.
She is currently enrolled in herding lessons and is working towards her HCT (Herding Capability Tested) and JHD (Junior Herding Dog) titles.  Hailey's mom Gena recently emailed saying:

It is hard to believe that in June, Hailey and I will celebrate 5 years together. Just goes to show one person's trash is another person's treasure. My family and I treasure every day that we have with her.

Doris Day Animal Foundation

Spay Day USA

Happy Hills Animal Foundation joined The Doris Day Animal Foundation in Celebration of their Annual Spay Day USA Event. HHAF held a fundraising event: Caged For Critters
$1500 was raised
Our President/Owner Cheryl Routh and Office Managere Lynn Ledbetter braved teh cold Feb. tempertures while being locked in a 10X10 chainlink dog kennel at the intersection of Brady St. and Hwy 64 in Ramseur, NC. Although the day was long and cold, it was a Great Success.
Much needed funds were raised and we helped to spread the important Spay/Neuter message. HHAF recieved local media coverage of the event. The Doris Day Animal Foundation plan to feature a photo and story in their national magazine. With our web site reaching the entire nation and beyond, this is a good opportunity to recieve nationwide media attention. We would like to send a special thank you to the The Doris Day Animal Foundation for this opportunity.
Thanks to everyone that participated in this event and to Craig Doss and the Ramseur Quick Lube Center.

    Construction Update

The rebuilding of HHAF is well underway.

    The re-construction after the devastating

fire of Easter 2004 has been a long project.

Happy Hills has been building a little at a

time as manpower and funds allowed.

The bathroom project is underway towards completion. The outside walls are standing and the inner walls are well on there way to being completed. When this building is complete it will consists of a bathroom, laundry room, and an isolation room for sick animals or those that need closer supervision or observation. We all are very excited about seeing this project's closure. Several cage banks and isolation cages have been donated and are being renovated for use.

    Update

This project is moving rapidly towards completion. The building has electricity, the roof, walls and floors are complete. There has been a slight set back due to doors that had to be re-ordered.

    What is Responsible Dog Ownership?

Responsible Dog Ownership means being the best owner/caregiver to your dog that you can be. Much more than "food, water, and shelter", Responsible Dog Ownership is the obligation dog owners have to incorporate their dogs into the community, being a good neighbour, and providing for the needs of their dogs, however varied those needs may be.

To communicate the value of pets for people and people for pets

To increase public awareness of the role, value and contribution to society of working companion animals

Knowledge and preparedness can make a significant difference when an animal emergency strikes. It is vital to keep the veterinarian's contact numbers easily accessible.

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray this cushy life to keep,

I pray for toys that look like mice, and sofa cushions soft and nice.

I pray for gourmet kitty snacks, and someone nice to scratch my back,

For window sills all warm and bright, for shadows to explore at night.

I pray I'll always stay real cool, and keep the secret feline rule, to never tell a human that the world is really ruled by cats!

    PROMOTE A PET

We are inviting all of you to join in our Promote a Pet program. Pick a pet, talk to your friends and co-workers about that pet, print and put up posters, put an ad in the paper, if you are nearby pick your dog up (and flyers or cards to give interested folks) and take them for a trip to Petsmart, downtown, anywhere they can be seen. Use your imaginations! Then when your pet is adopted, tell us what worked best and we'll report that to our other Promote a Pet participants!
