Spike

Spike came to us in September of 2005, a friend called us up and told us
that he had a new dog but wanted to know if we would keep him for two weeks
until he could get moved into his new house.  We told him we would if he
would get the dog vaccinated first. After no word from our friend for over a
month he called us up and told us that his new landlord would not allow dogs
over 35 lbs. For the next six months we were promised by our friend that he
would find a suitable home for Spike, he then enlisted in the National Guard
and is currently serving in another state on border patrol. Spike has served
the last 15 months tied up outside without the family that he truly
deserves.
Spike is a 3 year old male who is very lovable and full of energy.  He was
raised inside for the first two years of his life with a toddler though I
would recommend older children due to his excitement he may  knock a smaller
child over. He is a Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix and weighs about 50 lbs.  He
was house trained but may need some reminding on the proper places to
"potty" since he has be outside for so long. Spike doesn't meet a stranger,
he may bark at first but once they get close he is all wagging tail looking
for a friend.  I'm not sure how he gets along with cats but he seems to get
along with other dogs pretty well. I would prefer adopting Spike to someone
who will keep Spike inside and make him a part of their family and who has a
yard where he can run around and enjoy himself safely. We have had to leave
Spike outside because we have an aggressive male that attacks poor Spike
every time he has seen him so we have had to keep them separate.
