Transport Volunteer
Responsible for transporting animals to the airport to catch flights to their new homes, or to meet the next volunteer in a chain of volunteers transporting the animal to a new home, or simply to the vet. Please contact us to be put on a list. Or, for vet transports, call us in the morning if you have a free afternoon, or the evening before a free morning. We need vet transports almost every Tuesday and Wednesday from Staley to the SPCA clinic in Greensboro in the morning and back in the afternoon.

Clean Up Volunteer
Responsible for helping pooper scoop the large runs and fields, clean litter boxes, scrub cages. Hours: weekdays, weekends, flexible times. We desperately need 2 or 3 of these volunteers. It isn't the most glamorous job, but badly needed and you can take breaks to play with the animals.

Animal Cleaning Volunteer
Responsible for brushing the cats, brushing and washing dogs and puppies. No experience required, but if you know how to use dog clippers to trim the heavy coated animals it would be a plus. Hours: weekdays, weekends, flexible times. 2 people needed

Dog Training Volunteer
Responsible for working with dogs and puppies on simple commands such as sit, lie down, off (for dogs jumping up on people), and working on leash training. No experience required. Hours: weekdays, weekends, flexible times. We can use as many people as volunteer.

Website Maintenance Volunteer
Will be sent digital photos and write ups of new animals (as well as adoptions) weekly via e-mail. Volunteer would be responsible for updating Happy Hills' listings on 1-3 other websites. Requirements: computer with internet access, ability to receive e-mails with attachments. We will train. Hours: totally flexible. New sites are coming up all the time, we always need people for this.

Volunteer Foster Homes
Foster home volunteers, long and short term needed to take extra cats or kittens, dogs or puppies until homes are found for them. We especially need weekend fosterers, people who will take a dog or cat home for a weekend, evaluate their behavior in a home environment, and let us know details for their bios. Hours: all We can use as many people as volunteer.

Office Volunteer
Responsible for folding and addressing newsletters, filling out and mailing tax receipts and thank you notes. Also, copying, filing, and other office duties as they come up. Hours: weekdays, weekends, flexible hours. 1-2 people needed.

Socializing Volunteer
Responsible for spending time with some of our dogs or cats. Can include playing fetch with dogs, taking a feather wand into the cattery to let the cats chase it, petting dogs or cats, or simply sitting in a chair in a cattery or run and reading to the pets to allow them some intensive "people" time. Hours: flexible We can use as many people as volunteer.

Health Check Volunteer
Responsible for coming to Happy Hills periodically to handle and check over animals. Can do only dogs, only cats, or both. Handle each animal, checking for whether they are over or under weight, any injuries, swelling, eye or nose or tooth problems, etc. No experience required, training is available. This is invaluable for catching problems long before the staff might notice them. Hours: flexible but usually weekends as health checks are best done in teams of 2 or more. We can use as many people as volunteer.

Fundraising Volunteers
Responsible for helping run and staff fundraisers. Everything from holding a donation jar at adoption fairs, selling dog treats, plants, candybars, or other fundraising projects. Hours: weekdays, weekends, flexible hours. We can use as many people as volunteer
